Q: 4.1 — The Holy Quran and the sphericity of the Earth: A correct reading

Many flat-Earth proponents rely on certain Quranic verses, claiming they indicate flatness. The truth is that the Holy Quran is a book of guidance, not a book of astrophysics, and reputable scholars of exegesis have confirmed for centuries that the verses relating to the Earth's shape describe the visual scene for a person standing on its surface.

His saying, the Almighty: ﴿And the Earth - after that He spread it.﴾ — An-Nazi'at:30. The word “dahaha” comes from “DAHA” which in Arabic means the spherical ostrich egg (al-udhiya). So the verse at least does not negate sphericity nor does it indicate absolute flatness.

Imam Ibn Hazm Al-Andalusi (d. 456 AH) said: “None of the Muslim leaders worthy of the name of leadership in knowledge have denied the sphericity of the Earth; rather, the proofs from the Quran and the Sunnah have come with its sphericity” — Al-Fasl fi al-Milal wa al-Nihal, Vol. 2, p. 78
