Q: Second Edition Preface

July 26, 2026a.zemmama@callandcom.net ⏱ 1 minute read

This is an expanded second edition, built upon the foundation of the "Baraheen" references after updating them to 109 documented references.

The first edition of this book was published and received more acceptance than we had anticipated. We received many questions from readers, which revealed to us that there were areas in the book that we had not given their due. Hence, this edition.

The most important additions are:

First – Six new chapters in the jurisprudential section: Clarifying the meaning of consensus, the sky encompassing the earth, the verse ﴿He holds the heavens and the earth so they do not deviate﴾, the distance between the sky and the earth and the weakness of what has been narrated about it, the principle of "addressing what people understand," the detailed answer to the fatwa of excommunication, and the criterion for scientific interpretation.

Second – Three chapters in the scientific section: The reason for the alternation of night and day in the words of Ibn Taymiyyah, the difference in the rising of the new moon between regions, and the issue of the vastness of the sky.

Third – Two new fallacies: The truncated نقل (narration/ نقل), and doctrinal blackmail; and a chapter on the legal responsibility of the narrator.

Fourth – And the most important in practice: The "Frequently Asked Questions" section at the end of the book, containing thirty-eight questions organized into four themes. Each has a concise answer suitable for memorization and transmission, a detailed answer, a reference to its location in the book, and its sources. This section is the basis for the FAQ section on the Baraheen platform.

In all نقل (narration/ نقل), we have adhered to citing the book, volume, page, and link. At the end of the book, we have included a complete index of references, so that the reader can scrutinize us as we scrutinize others. Whatever is correct in it is from Allah alone, and whatever is in it of error is from us and from Satan, and we seek Allah's forgiveness.
